Many would not have known that Marlon Wayans' Paranormal Activity spoof A Haunted House was a success. Not only a success, but it grossed $60 million worldwide against a budget of only $2.5 million. Will the sequel strike iron as well?
Open Road Films, the company which distributed the first film, released the first trailer for A Haunted House 2. Directed by Michael Tiddes, the plot finds Wayans' character moving out of his one haunted house into another haunted house with his new girlfriend (Jaime Pressly) and her two kids.
Despite the stink associated with it through Metacritic and Rotten Tomatoes, the original was a box office success, and earned the appreciation of Open Road Films CEO Tom Ortenberg. You can watch the teaser trailer for yourself below:
Originally announced in April, the sequel marks the return of Essence Atkins and Cedric the Entertainer, and features Gabriel Iglesias. Employing the same "found footage" style it used in the original, A Haunted House will include riffs on Sinister and this year's horror smash The Conjuring.
A Haunted House 2 is due out March 28, 2014. Will you head to the theaters to see this sequel? Or just wait until it hits Netflix? Or skip it all together?
