Sri Lankan songstress M.I.A. brought splashes of color to the set of The Colbert Report (Nov. 20) to discuss her recent album Matangi, designing its cover art, and why she meshes politics with music in her projects.
“I was really inspired by a lot of American artists, like Bob Dylan, Public Enemy, so by the time I put out my first song and came to America I thought you guys were used to it already,” the “Bad Girls” singer said. “I didn’t realize it was so shocking.”
