WATCH: Morgan Freeman Narrate A Same-Sex Ad

VIBE Pop Culture Posted November 26, 2012

Legendary screen actor Morgan Freeman has lent his signature voice to documentaries, audiobooks and even the Obama campaign. Now, his voice will appear in a new ad for marriage equality.

Freeman is using his talented tenor to narrate a new TV spot in support of same-sex marriage released by the Human Rights Campaign. The commercial, titled "Dawn of a New Day for Marriage Equality," begun airing nationally on Sunday, according to The Advocate.

"Freedom, justice and human dignity have always guided our journey toward a more perfect union," Freeman says in the clip (which you can see below). "Now, across our country, we are standing together for the right of gay and lesbian Americans to marry the person they love. With historic victories for marriage, we've delivered a mandate for full equality." This isn't the first time the "Now You Can See Me" actor has come out in support of same-sex couples. Earlier this year, Morgan Freeman told Newsweek, "I grew up in the South but I started dancing in my twenties when I got out of the Air Force, and studying dance, you're surrounded by gay guys all the time. You get to know them and you have to shift gears!"

The march towards equality took a healthy leap forward when earlier this month, three more states voted to legalize same-sex marriage: Maine, Washington and Maryland. Minnesota voters also rejects a measure to ban same-sex marriage.
