It looks like Mystikal wants to take the Busta Rhymes route and end his relationship with Cash Money Records. In an interview with Rap-Up before joining Ludacris onstage at the 2014 BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Awards, the rapper expressed discontent with his current deal at Baby’s label.
“I don’t really fit the mold of the situation I’m in. I’m different, man. I have to be able to be the artist that I am. If I can’t do that, then it’s not gonna work for me.”
Since signing with Cash Money back in 2011, Mystikal’s only release has been his single, “Original” featuring Birdman and Lil’ Wayne. He has yet to drop an album under the imprint. But in airing out his creative differences, the New Orleans native reiterated his respect for Birdman.
"That’s all respect. That’s family. We were family prior to this. And I thank them for the opportunity, but I don’t wanna be a liability to them ’cause it’s a waste of money, if nothing ever comes from it.”
