Real-life besties and former Saturday Night Live castmates Tina Fey and Amy Poehler knocked their opening monologue out the park while managing to keep things in good humor. The duo replaced Ricky Gervais, who held hosting duties the past three years amidst controversy that his opening banter was too brash and offensive (but still really, really funny.)
Fey and Poehler poked fun at replacing Gervais. "Ricky Gervais couldn't be here tonight, because he's technically no longer in show business," joked Fey.
Some other highlights from the intro included Poehler explaining Meryl Streep's absence. "Meryl Streep is not here tonight. She has the flu -- and I hear she's amazing in it," she remarked. Check out their hilarious monologue below.
