It’s been literally—no exaggeration—forever since we’ve heard new songs from the rapper/crooner formerly known as Mos Def. Yet today (Jan. 17), Yasiin Bey is in the motherland of Africa, where he is set to perform spanking-new material. Yes, today!

We know what you’re thinking: Dag, yo! I’m all the way in flippin’ New Haven, Conn. How the frick am I gonna make it to this undisclosed location in Africa in time to see Mighty Mos?!?

Welp, we’ve got a solution. Sit yo’ ass down in front of a computer or YouTube-accessible device and go to Okayplayer or Okayafrica at 5:30 PM (EST). There, you will find that Yasiin is streaming his performance in real-time. Look at God!

The performance is presented by the newly formed, Bey-helmed arts collective A COUNTRY CALLED EARTH, and commemorates the birth-date of Muhammad Ali. It’s the first of a series of live stream events taking place in Africa, titled “The Time is Always Now.”

Peep the trailer for the performance above. We’ll Mos Def be watching. (Get it? No? OK, bye.) —John Kennedy
