Wealthy Florida Man Adopts Girlfriend As His Daughter

It's amazing what people will do in order to protect their money.

John Goodman, founder of the International Polo Club Palm Beach, legally adopted his 42-year-old longtime girlfriend, Heather Hutchins, as his daughter.

The Palm Beach Post reports that the legal action was done in an effort to shield Goodman's assets ahead of a civil lawsuit over a deadly car crash where he killed 23-year-old Scott Patrick Wilson. Goodman's attorney, Dan Bachi, says the adoption was done to ensure the future stability of his children and family investments and has nothing to do with the lawsuit.

No matter what his attorney says, it's a pretty crafty way at saving a persons assets.
