Whitney Houston Says She Originally Wanted Aaliyah for 'Sparkle' Remake

Whitney Houston seems to be doing very well and fully ready to return to the big screen.

During her interview on Access Hollywood, Whitney sits down for an exclusive interview with Shaun Robinson to discuss starring in the upcoming remake of the movie Sparkle, which is loosely based around the story of The Supremes.She reveals that the role was initially for Aaliyah.

"This was [Aaliyah’s] movie, when we brought it to her, she was so enthusiastic about it and she wanted it, to do it so badly. She was our Sparkle."

“Unfortunately… it just didn’t go that way,” she continued. “I put it down. I said, ‘My Sparkle has gone to a better place,’ then we just left it alone.”

Jordin Sparks will now be playing the role of Sparkle.. --Krystal Holmes
