Will Ferrell Says He Was 'Flattered' By Kanye And Jay-Z Sampling Him On 'N---as In Paris'

Will Ferrell Says He Was 'Flattered' By Kanye And Jay-Z Sampling Him On 'N---as In Paris'

Posted November 9, 2011

Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “Niggas In Paris” has become one of the biggest hits of 2011

, currently at number 1 spot on Billboard’s Hip-hop/R&B charts.

It’s become such a pop-culture phenom that Jay and Ye perform the single three times on their Watch The Throne tour. Aside from the insane beat by Hit-boy and The Throne’s killer rhymes, the odd sample of Will Farrell in the 2007 figure-skating comedy, Blades Of Glory, definitely makes the track stand out compared to what’s on the airwaves today.

“Paris” begins with Ferrell as the character Chazz Michael Michaels and announces” We’re gonna skate to one song and one song only.” The music begins and mid-way through Ferrell makes another appearance “No one knows what it means, but it’s provocative… it’s gets the people going!”

In a recent exchange with MTV News, Will says he was honored when Mr. West approached him about the sample.

“Kanye reached out to me and I said, ‘Of Course’,” Ferrell told MTV. “I was completely flattered when they asked if they could sample me into the song…and when I heard it for the first time, I just started to laugh because it felt so surreal. But I really did like the song.”

When asked if any of his other films could be a good suggestion for more hip-hop samples, the comedian said, “I think [something from] Step Brothers would be good or the Woody Allen movie I did, Melinda and Melinda.”
