Winter Music Countdown: Exclusive Chat with Lazy Rich

To start things off right, we've hooked up with StadiumRed and APA to bring readers the Perfecto and APA Pool Party and Electric Splash on March 22nd and 23rd. On the decks at both parties will be Canadian DJ and producer Lazy Rich.

Rich sat down with VIBE for a chat before heading to Miami's bikini-clad, bass-thumping beaches.

VIBE: What’s your craziest WMC/ Ultra memory of all time?
Lazy Rich: Last year we were working on a project for Madonna but had no idea she’d be at the festival. We were just on our way out when she showed up on main stage, so we legged it back through 50,000 raving people and madness, got back to the main stage to go meet her and arrived just in time...to wave at her get-away car.

Do you have a tip for WMC/Ultra first timers?
There are so many parties going on, so be sure to plan ahead and figure out who you want to see the most. Be sure to get tickets as the good shows are ALWAYS sold out.

Best late-night greasy food joint?
Depends how drunk I am, so usually whatever is nearest.

Fave club to hear DJ's DJ music?
Mansion.

Fave mega club? Hotel?
Space and SLS.

Must-have piece of DJ gear for Miami?
It’s all about the USBs nowadays for DJing, the only way you can go to your gig straight from the beach.

Must-have accessory (hat, shades, shorts, etc?) for Miami?
For some reason I look like an absolute knob wearing any of the above, part of being a skinny white guy.

Most embarrassing live performance moment? How do you recover?
I never make mistakes.

What can we expect from your sets this year at the shows?
I’ve been working hard in the studio the last couple of months so plenty of new tracks, and because it’s Miami there’s always an excuse to bring out a few classics.
