The first great NBA star from China has announced his early retirement from he NBA.
Yao Ming broke the news to the league late last week after finding out a stress fracture in his left leg would continue to keep him off the court. He was sidelined for the entire 2009-2010 season due to related injuries.
Originally drafted in the first round of 2002 NBA draft, he started his career with the Houston Rockets. Throughout his career Yao averaged 19.0 points and 9.3 rebounds in 486 games and was an eight-time All-Star player
Fellow recently retired big man, Shaquille O'Neal payed Yao homage on his Twitter account.
"You are one of the greatest players ever to come out of China, one of the greatest players period," O'Neal said.
"Let's go on vacation, bro, me and you," he added.
