Yasiin Bey Cancels Upcoming U.S. Tour Due To ‘Legal Issues’

Yasiin Bey won’t be coming to the U.S. anytime soon, most def. The rapper,also known as Mos Def, has been banned by the U.S. government from re-entering the country.

The South Africa resident boarded a plane last week to begin his North American tour in Boston, Mass. when immigration c-blocked his trip.

Music festival Together Boston, said in a statement, “We regret to inform you that due to immigration / legal issues Yasiin Bey is unable to enter back into the United States and his upcoming U.S. tour has been canceled, including May 15th, Together Boston’s show at The Wilbur Theatre. Individual ticket refunds for this show are available at point of sale.”

The specifics of the issues are still unclear, but several reports are pointing to Mos Def’s opposing stance on the U.S. government’s policies as a possible reason.
