From the sky, the line outside of Manhattan's Highline Ballroom yesterday looked like a marathon. There, thousands gathered in hopes of a coveted, pale yellow wristband that would allow access into one of two shows on J. Cole's Dollar & A Dream II tour. But no one in this mob of amped Dreamvillians expected to take the stage alongside Cole, to help him perform one of his classic from his The Warm Up mixtape.
J. Cole ran through a bulk of the tracks on Warm Up, celebrating the five-year anniversary of the project's release (his first after signing to Roc Nation). After Bas opened up the show and introduced Dreamville's newest signee Cozz, Cole rocked the spot with favorites like "Grown Simba," "World Is Empty" and "Get Up." But once he got to "Dreams," which features singer Brandon Hines on the hook, he needed some assistance. So the lanky Carolinian called out for a lady fan from the crowd to come up and sing the chorus, while he serenaded her with his verses. Chevelle (sp?) may have paid a dollar to get in, but for her, rocking the stage with J. Cole must've been a dream come true. Check out the footage above.
Bonus: Bas brings a fan onstage to perform J. Cole's verse on "Lit"
