JADAKISS without a doubt. Not many artist have been around as long, and still kept their consistancy... he never left the streets which is why he never lost that creativity that only the streets can give you. Real hip-hop heads understand that which is why real hip hop heads aren't fooled by a hot beat and a mediocre verse.... if you can't play that**itacapella and still bob ya head, ya shit's trash

The best rapper alive is Rakim Allah, cuz he is the God MC and you cant beat a god lol, but Nas and Talib Kweli are great rappers too the only problem with these choices are that mine are skill based unlike this comp with is fan based so im sure a dirty F** south rapper will win like LIl Fruitcup.. i mean wayne. LIL WAYNE SUCKS!!! NY is where it started at and they will always be the best (no diss to Luda, Scarface or Big Boi)

People that are definitely not best rapper quality. Like Paul Wall, Fat Joe, Rick Ross, 50 cent, Nelly, lmao def flo rida and soulja boy. These dudes are not even on the same level as some of the others like Nas, Hova, Lupe, Mos Def, Talib, common, the game, Scarface, Big Boi, Em, and Snoop Dogg. The in betweens are Kanye, Wayne, Ludacris( who i love), young jeezy, fabulous, andre 300, and jadakiss. There are two people that are missing from this list that make me a lil sad. Where is Dr.Dre, infamous from mobb deep, and i am prob gonna get flac for this but Charles Hamilton. I think Charles is actually the best right now. I know many would probably disagree but his rhymes r tight and he is all about the lyrics. All the others i didn't mention on the list i choose to ignore because i don't listen to their music much and don't want to judge.

as far as i am concerned, the best rapper alive is not known, not properly counted, probably doesnt have a record deal, this best rapper thing is more than just signed rappers and emcees, there is plenty of raw talent not getting the chance to compete, so whenever i see or hear that smebody is the best, i just shake my head and say....stop the bull$h*t.

Naeshun ....... Dude ur f**king hilarious, where are all these millions coming from haha yeh god point lets pay all the rappers who are already getting paid even more money.how will paying them prove whos a better rapper ? and whos to say that vibe are willing to give away 5mill+ just to settle arguments from the people takin all this**it2 seriously.u reckon jay-z or eminem wud bother with a battle ? 5 mill to those guys is pocket change, come'on be serious.Actually since youve gone through so much trouble why dont u book up madison square garden, ring up all the rappers who will all somehow have the same day off n u can arrange the battle ? u cud even use ur millions 2 pay them.have u ever in your life even thought 2 yourself that some whack rappers know there whack ? y wud a whack rapper turn up knowing he'll lose ? there making money n dont care, wudnt u do it ? ? ? what a joke, cant believe u have this much time on ur hands man !!

Naeshun says:

The solution to the issue is and always will be the Hip Hop way of settling it. The battle... I say 5 million cash to the winner 2.mill for #2 with quarter finalist taking home 1million a piece, and elite 8 taking home 500k, sweet 16 250k and first round winners 100k. 50 k for everyone that makes it to the tournament but loses first round(standard show fee). the criteria would be as follows, 3 categories, Category #1 artist hottest lines, against the others hottest lines 4 bars, 8 bars,16bars, 24bars recited by the artist aloud no music.(2 of each or any combination of 8 in total). Category #2 artist hottest songs against the others hottest songs performed live 3 songs each(what ever the artist pics no repeats), Category #3 a 3 round 1 minute per round freestyle off the top no previously used written material. All in front of a stadium crowd in 4 different arenas, the final 4 matching up in madison square garden to battle to be crowned King. there will be 3 ways to judge, the attendees in the stadium, will have there screams measured by the scream o meter, the live audience at home will get to cast there vote, and a panel of judges, including but not limited to, the founders of hip hop, 12 or 24(Africa bambata, Run DMC, Curtis Blow, MC lyte, Queen LAtifa, Roxanne SHante, Sugar Hill Gang, KRS ONE(if he doesn’t participate) Rakim, Chuck D, Cool Herk, Grand Master Flash) of them like a jury, such that the originators and pathmakers have a say in who represents the art the best right now. What it means to win is that, you have 48 of the hottest verses(groups of lines) 18 of the hottest songs, and 18 of the best battle raps against other rappers. It means your ability to be lyrical with out music is un questionable, your ability to perform live is absolutely hot, and your ability to battle is superior. It means a live audience let everyone know you’re the hottest by their screams, the live audience at home by there show of support, online and through telephone(with voting code), and the founding hip hop fathers and mothers by vote. Not to mention more money then anyone has ever made on a single set of 2 shows. It would however eliminate all the 2 hit wonders and the over rated rappers, as well as the studio emcees, that are unable to perform live, or recite there own lyrics, none the less freestyle battle, since no one would be doing it for free there would be no more of that weaka**excuse lol. From a true Hip Hop fan that is solution and positivity oriented. Hip Hop Started out in the Park… not everybody tryna chart…

In reading the build up the article and a few of the blogs i would also like to say, that of the 64 selected as in running to be the best, sales, skills, popularity and originality all in mind, many could be substituted for a more apprciated bracket. I agree that Lazy bone should be part of this bracket, as well as slim thug, Pharoh Monch, Boots from the Coup, M1 or Stick MAN from Dead Prez, anyone from Jurrasic 5, could take the spot of SOulja Boy, JOe Budden, Lauryn Hill(love her but she is a full time singer) lil boosie, webbie, devin the dude, missy, lil mama, especially puff F**gy aka diddy. I also think that the ranking is biased on popularity, and gets lost after about seed number 4, what was nice, is pairing some recent rivals against each other, bienie SIegel against Jada Kiss, 50 cent against fat joe, fabolous and cassidy, yonug jeezy and rick ross, but pails to the crew comparisons, Jewelz vs cam, redman vs method man, raekwon vs ghost, kweli vs mos def, black thought vs common, big boi vs killer mike, clearly deliberate but a terrible loss for the list. it feels like they tried to go each area(east west south midwest) in a bracket, but didnt, each genre in a bracket, (pop, underground, punchlines, lyricist) but didnt. and in the end just ended up trying to predict a pay per view kind of ending. a Larrry Holmes versus Jerry Cooney(great white hope), looks liek Jerry Cooney won this time.

Naeshun says:

I'd like to say before I start with some sensible comparisons and suggestions and positive commentary, that this is a popualrity contest based on online voting for a popular magazine of "rappers" in a NCAA bracket format. Just so were clear "Rap" is the commericalized form of an art and culture named Hip Hop, Hip Hop which is not being compared. The bracket is full of rappers and where the creators of the bracket placed them as seeds ranked from 1-16 were the expected outcome is the number 1, and number 2 seeds meeting in the end of the bracket. So we should likeness eminem to the "Duke Blue Devils" as always being a NUmber 1 seed, and having the cakewalk bracket. in his half of the bracket there is SOljah boy, flo rida , nelly, young buck, lloyd banks, ghost face and raekwon, with him invariably being compared to the winner of Big Boi, Killer Mike, 50 Cent, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Beanie Sigel,Nas ,Joe Budden. As expected Eminem ended up facing Nas, and if you have cable the more popualr of the 2 won. No skills discssed no battle, just who the populus liked more. Look at the other brackets and number 1 faced nuber 2 in the JAyze Kanye bracket, and the last 2 both brackets are ended with number 1 versus num 3. , ludacris more votes then TI, the game more votes then andre 3000.
In the finals EMinem more votes then Game, Jay-z more votes then Ludacris, and finally emine more votes then Jay-z. surprinfgly the percentages are not shown on this bracket, but i dont suspect foul play just want to know what the margin of victory is, that people think that Em is better or the best over JAy.
