For 50 Cent, 2011 has been a year of entrepreneurial endeavors outside the realm of hip-hop. His film, Things Fall Apart, which was screened at an exclusive event sponsored by Vibe and Hot 97, pits 50 as a star football player who is struck with cancer. For the role, Mr. Jackson was forced to lose over 50 pounds in order to properly simulate the effects of leukemia. The cover boy for Vibe’s first ever international issue, it is clear that the Queens rapper has larger-than-life business aspirations. Despite his status as a global icon, with sold out shows in Africa, 50 also desires his brand to garner widespread recognition. Just last week, Jackson unveiled “Uber50”, a new theme for iPhone and Blackberry platforms in which consumers gain access to exclusive artwork, G-Unit twitter lists, and much more. In terms of music, 50 recently revealed that his next project—Black Magic—will be released this summer.
