Dr. Dre

It’s been a long time coming for Dr. Dre’s upcoming studio release, Detox. More than 10 years after dropping The Chronic: 2001, fans of the west coast legend have been patiently waiting for some new material. While singles off the new album Kush and I Need a Doctor have held Dre heads over for a few months, an official release date for his final project has yet to be named. In the meantime, rumor has it that the Doctor is so enamored with the skills of Compton’s Kendrick Lamar that the two have developed a close friendship. The delayed release of Detox may be attributed to Dre’s recent stint in court. No, the legendary producer is not in any legal trouble. Rather, he has sued Death Row Records for the unlawful sale and repackaging of the original “Chronic”. With former CEO Suge Knight now out of the picture, let’s hope this lawsuit is settled smoothly. In fact, Death Row trio Operation From the Bottom has mentioned the possibility of a Dre collaboration, as was discussed at Nate Dogg’s funeral. And if you’re really dying for an appearance from the Doctor, check him out in Chrysler’s new commercial, as seen during the NBA Finals.
