Name: Andre "3000" Benjamin

Breakthrough: Together with fellow Atlanta teen Antwan "Big Boi" Patton, Andre, then performing under the name Dre, formed the rap duo OutKast. Shortly after high school, the group signed with LaFace Records and released its debut, Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, in 1994. The album went platinum and earned the group the Best New Rap Group of the Year Award at the 1995 Source Awards, setting the stage for a long and influential career. In 2003, the group released the Grammy Award–winning double album, Speakerboxxx/The Love Below (LaFace/Arista)-essentially two solo albums packaged as one project-which went diamond largely thanks to Andre 3000’s rock/pop–inflected single "Hey Ya!"
Now You Know: In 1998, Erykah Badu gave birth to the then-couple's only child, a baby boy named Seven.
