Breakthrough: As front man of hip hop band The Roots, Black Thought supplied most of the rhymes on 1996's Illadelph Halflife (Geffen), which became the group's first album to crack The Billboard 200, thanks largely to MTV's airplay of the video for ''What They Do,'' the group's first single to hit the Billboard pop charts.
