Breakthrough: As a regular caller into DJ Clue's radio show on New York's Hot 97 [WQHT-FM], Fabolous finally got a shot to freestyle for Clue in late 1998. Clue immediately signed him to his newly formed Desert Storm Records and hooked Fab up with appearances on several DJ Clue–produced mixtapes, as well as mixtapes with Roc-A-Fella artists. This setup earned Fabolous and Desert Storm a distribution deal with Elektra Records, which released Fab's debut album, Ghetto Fabolous in 2001.
Now You Know: In October 2006, Fabolous was shot in the thigh as he stood in a Manhattan parking garage after leaving an NFL players event at Diddy's Justin's Restaurant.
