Breakthrough: Beat-boxing monster, Biz Markie blew up with his 1988 debut Goin’ Off (Cold Chillin’/Warner Bros.), featuring the hits “The Vapors,” “Pickin’ Boogers,” and “Make the Music With Your Mouth, Biz.” But he didn’t taste mainstream fame until the release of his sophomore effort, The Biz Never Sleeps (Cold Chillin’/Warner Bros.), which birthed the smash single “Just a Friend.”

Now You Know: Biz’s beat-boxing skills not only launched his career but also landed him cameos on the big and small screens in Nick Jr.’s Yo Gabba Gabba and Men In Black II (Columbia, 2002.)
