Breakthrough: One of the forefathers of Miami gangsta rap, Trick Daddy burst on the scene in 1996 on “Scarred,” a track by former 2 Live Crew frontman Luke. He was subsequently signed by Slip-N-Slide Records impresario Ted Lucas. “Nann Nigga” from his sophomore album, www.thug.com (Warlock/Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic), not only launched him into the national spotlight, it introduced the world to hip hop vixen Trina. He scored again in 2001 with “I’m a Thug” from Thugs are Us (Slip-N-Slide/Atlantic).

Now You Know: Trick released his debut album, Based on a True Story (Slip-N-Slide, 1997) under the name Trick Daddy Dollars.
