Canibus
Name: Germaine Williams
Reppin': Jamaica,
Breakthrough: Most famous for his well-publicized rap battle with LL Cool J, Canibus (originally Can-I-Bus) was born the son of a Jamaican cricket player and raised in a variety of locations, from the Bronx and Washington D.C. to Atlanta, Buffalo, and Montréal. He began rapping in the mid-’90s, and by 1997, had linked up with Wyclef Jean of the Fugees, who agreed to become his manager. After several impressive cameos alongside such artists as Lost Boyz, Common, and The Firm, Canibus landed a verse on LL Cool J’s “4, 3, 2, 1,” from LL’s 1997 album, Phenomenon (Def Jam). In the original version of the verse, Canibus raps “L, is that a mic on your arm? Let me borrow that”—a reference to the microphone tattooed on the MC’s bicep. LL took exception to the line, sparking a battle that stretched into several subsequent songs including LL’s “The Ripper Strikes Back” and “Back Where I Belong” as well as Canibus’ “Rip the Jacker” and “Second Round K.O.,” the lead single from his self-titled 1998 debut on Universal Records. Although “Second Round K.O.” was considered a triumph, the album failed to live up to both commercial and critical expectations.
Now You Know: After the release of his 2002 album Mic Club: The Curriculum (Mic Club), Canibus joined the U.S. Army. His fifth album, Rip The Jacker (Mic Club/Babygrande), which was released in 2003 while Canibus was serving active duty, was built entirely on vocals recorded before he entered the service.

What?...The F** below must be a Feminem or LL Cool Gay fan or some shit!...Canibus DESTROYED both them Homos, any REAL Hip Hop head will tell you that..Canibus is known for his scientific and philosophical approach to hip hop. In many of his lyrics, he uses scientific jargon and often creates intricate rhyme schemes, complex phrases and concepts in order to provide an artistic depth to his music. Punchlines(a key aspect of freestyle and battle rap)and vivid imagery are other trademarks of Canibus' rhyming style...Not to mention, the razor-tongued battle specialist has the largest vocabulary in Hip Hop, a penchant for absolutely killer wordplay, and a stamina that allows him to rhyme for minutes on end...
**Anybody who knows REAL Hip-Hop, know that Canibus is the G.O.A.T**
