Indeed, it’s nearly impossible to overstate Rakim’s immense effect on the evolution of hip hop from party/B-Boy platform to serious lyrical art form.

Hands down 1 of the Best who ever picked up a pen and a mic. The Microphone Fiend gave birth to the lyricism of today's true hip-hop mcs. Young ones need to know the history. There were mcs before Biggie, Pac, Jay-Z and Wayne.
