Breakthrough: In 1992, alongside legendary producer Dr. Dre, Snoop made his first appearance on “Deep Cover,” the title track from a film of the same name. Tall, lean and cool, he immediately made an impression and became a West Coast sensation. That same year he played an integral role on Dre’s historic solo debut, The Chronic (Death Row/Interscope), rhyming alongside the vet with fervor and flow. In 1993, Snoop released Doggystyle (Death Row/Interscope), which became the first debut album to enter the charts at No. 1. Snoop subsequently became a pop culture icon, worked with hundreds of artists, appearing in films, hosting his own sketch comedy show on MTV, Doggy Fizzle Televizzle, producing a series of adult entertainment DVDs and even branding a series of Snoop Dogg pet products.
Now You Know: Snoop is the first cousin of actress and R&B singer Brandy.
