Breakthrough: At 13, Bow Wow signed to So So Def Recordings, the label run by mega-producer Jermaine Dupri, and released his platinum-selling debut album Beware of Dog in 2000. Two years later, Bow Wow began what has become a respectable acting career, starring in his debut film Like Mike (20th Century Fox) about a young boy who plays in the NBA after he finds a pair of shoes with magical powers. In 2003, Bow Wow broke off his partnership with Dupri, and released the lackluster Unleashed (Sony, 2003), which sold under a million copies despite production from the likes of Swizz Beatz and Mannie Fresh. However, Dupri and Bow Wow reunited for his next album, Wanted (Sony, 2005), which spawned the Billboard Top 10 hit, “Let Me Hold You” with former B2K frontman, Omarion.

Now You Know: Bow Wow performed at a concert in Columbus when he was 6 and caught the attention of rapper Snoop Doggy Dogg, who gave him the stage name Lil’ Bow Wow.
