Breakthrough: Regarded as one of the South’s most talented lyricists, Ludacris began his career as a radio personality before independently releasing his debut, Incognegro (Disturbing Tha Peace), in 1998. After selling more than 50,000 copies of that project, mostly out of the trunk of his car, Ludacris landed a deal with Def Jam Recordings two years later. Def Jam then repackaged Incognegro as Back for the First Time (DTP/Def Jam, 2000), which became a massive hit thanks to the smash singles, “Southern Hospitality,” and “What’s Your Fantasy.” A series of successful albums followed, including Word of Mouf (DTP/Def Jam, 2001) and Chicken-N-Beer (DTP/Def Jam, 2003), and The Red Light District (DTP/Def Jam, 2004), all of which went multi-platinum.
Now You Know: Ludacris started his career as DJ Chris Lova Lova on Atlanta’s Hot 97.5 [WHAT-FM] radio station.

Luda is one of the best rappers not just from the south but in the industry period. I know to most this seems like a stretch but I think he's better than Jay-Z and Wayne Luda would stomp him like a roach for real! "Word of Mouf" and "Back for the first time" should of marked him in hip-hop's top 10 but everybody haven't been giving him his props. His rhymes, diverse flows, lyrics, punchlines, and jawdropping metaphors shoot y'all need to wake up and realize a lyricist when y'all hear one. Get Grammy of the year in 07 for best rap album still no props, every album except Release Therapy go pass platinum, still no props, and coming up on his 6th LP!! STILL NO PROPS!!!! What's the deal people? Luda aint perfect I know he needs to work on his choruses more stop working with rappers that are beneath him and kinda fall back from being annoying but overall he's the king of fresh, the south, and in my opinion hip-hop/rap my favorite rapper Ludacris!!!!
