Breakthrough: A product of Memphis' historic Orange Mound neighborhood, 8 Ball, along with fellow Memphis rapper MJG, helped lay the foundation for Southern gangsta rap on a series of classic releases including the duo's debut, Comin' Out Hard (Suave House/Universal, 1993), their sophomore effort, On the Outside Lookin' In (Suave House/Universal, 1994), and the follow up, On Top of the World (Suave House/Universal, 1995). In 1998, 8 Ball released his solo debut triple album, Lost (Suave House/Universal), which went double platinum and earned 8 Ball nationwide respect as a lyricist.
Now You Know: P. Diddy signed 8 Ball & MJG to his Bad Boy Entertainment in 2004 and released two albums by the group, Living Legends (Bad Boy, 2004) and Ridin' High (Bad Boy, 2007).
