Leos love attention, and Terrence Marks, born under that sign, is no exception. “When I’m performing, I want all eyes on me,” says the aspiring crooner, who got his first taste of stardom in the eighth grade—he got a standing ovation for his Christmas play solo. Later, as a University of Georgia student, Leo tried his hand at fame in a trio called State of Mind, but they split after a proposed deal with Motown fell through. He’s since left ATL for L.A. and now works at Starting Students Moving Company and puts out his own mixtapes. On his most recent one, R&Beats Vol.2, Leo’s smooth, soulful vocals (think Musiq with edge) make songs like “Still Friends,” about a pleasant run-in with an ex, memorable. “I’m the best at what I do, so I deserve to be heard,” he says confidently. Yep, he’s a Leo alright.
