D. Goode

“I’ve been singing all my life,” says crooner D. Goode, whose father is a working session musician for local artists. “But when my parents tried to force me to sing when I was young, I found myself running away from it.” Instead, he forged his own path through athletics. After recording his first song at age 9, Goode devoted his adolescent years to playing football, landing a scho-larship as fullback for the University of Delaware in 2001, he says. Still, he couldn’t shake his calling. “I went to become a football star, but everything ended up coming back to music,” explains Goode. With his buttery soft lyrics and slow, climactic production, Goode—a youth counselor by day—pays special attention to the ladies on love-struck ballads like “Hey Love” and “See You Smile.” “People are in love with being in love,” he observes. “If I can flatter that emotion, then I’ll win.”

In addition to national exposure in the magazine, the Free Agent's music will be featured on our Web site, vibe.com, where VIBE readers will rate the music, on a scale of 1 to 5, and give their feedback. If you've got what it takes, and aren't afraid to hear what others have to say, send in your demo. Maybe you'll be VIBE's next Free Agent.
