Talks of the N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton, going into production may soon become a reality.

On Tuesday (April 10), it was announced that F. Gary Gray, director of the comedy Friday featuring Ice Cube and Chris Tucker, beat out John Singleton, director of Boyz in the Hood, George Tilman, director of Notorious, and Elgin James, director of Little Birds, for the chance to direct the highly anticipated biopic. The script was written by Andrea Berloff and will be produced by Ice Cube and the widow of the late Eazy-E, Tomica Wright.

With films like Law Abiding Citizen featuring Jamie Foxx under his belt, we’d say Gray is the perfect choice to create this masterpiece.
