50 Cent: Bulletproof

In 50 Cent: Bulletproof, 50 plays an undercover cop who’s trying to find out who is tormenting the neighborhood and who shot him nine times. His G-Unit cohorts, Lloyd Banks, Young Buck and Tony Yayo all have 50’s back and are packing the heat heavily. But is this 50 Cent-licensed game bulletproof? Audio/Visual: The graphics for the movie scenes look great and were pretty well done. They definitely capture 50’s essence along with the rest of G-Unit. During gameplay, it’s not bad either, except the camera view is pretty terrible. It seems as if the developer didn’t know whether to make this game a third person game (like Splinter Cell or Max Payne) or a first person shooting game (like Halo or Rainbow Six). It’s like a combination of both and when it comes to the controls (which are discussed below), it makes for a frustrating experience. For the sound, if you hate 50 Cent or G-Unit, you’ll hate it. All the embers of G-unit voiced their parts in the game along with Dr. Dre and Eminem providing vocals as well. Of course, besides Em Dre, and maybe 50, none of them can act, but you’re really not expecting much anyway. It just adds to the authenticity of the game. The soundtrack is entirely 50 Cent and G-Unit music which is said to add up to almost four CD’s worth of music. left Controls: While the look and the sound of the game are pretty good, the gameplay pretty much sucks. The focal point is the targeting system. You can run around fine, you can duck easily, but when it comes to capping fools it proves more difficult. The targeting is not a lock-on aiming system and there’s no slowdown in movement to aim accurately. So most of the time, you’re shooting past the enemy, or once you do have him targeted, he moves out of the way quickly and you miss. Even when you’re close to an enemy, he can just keep going around you in a circle bucking you, with you barely getting one shot hitting him. It becomes very frustrating, that is until you realize, you don’t have to kill everyone on the level. You can just run past them to the exit to continue your level. The only people you really have to shoot up are the bosses at the end of the levels. Hotness: Well, if you think 50 Cent and G-Unit are the hottest thing out right now, you’ll love the game and put up with the game mechanics issue. There’s a bunch of unlockable videos, songs and other gems. Perfect for any hardcore G-unit fan Wackness: But if you’re looking for a fun gaming experience and a good story, skip this one. It had potential, but it really falls flat. Test Drive Rating: 2.5/5
