right Audio/Visual: The game is a story between the last X-Men movie and current one, so the story telling part is told in… pictures. While most video games uses CGI as cut-scenes, X-Men uses picture stills and moves them around, which is a bit annoying. But the voice talent of Patrick Stewart (Professor Xavier), Hugh Jackman (Wolverine), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler) and Shawn Ashmore (Iceman) keep things moving. As far as the in-game action, it’s a decent hack-n-slash style that seems a bit rushed.
Controls: You are only allowed to play with three characters: Wolverine, Iceman and Nightcrawler. Each character has their own moves - Wolverine swings and slashes - the buttons are for attacking and triggers for blocking and “Fury” - Iceman glides on ice - the buttons are used to attack and cast an Ice shields for protection - while Nightcrawler can teleport himself using the triggers and attacks using the buttons. The controls are pretty simple yet limited; you’ll get tired of doing the same moves over and over again as there aren’t any options to add moves or upgrade skills to your character.
Hotness: The one cool thing is Nightcrawler’s ability to teleport during battle. Remember the opening scene in X-Men 2 with Nightcrawler in the White House? Yeah, you can do that too. Iceman and his ice shields are a cool feature too.
Wackness: Well, pretty much the whole presentation, only three playable characters and the feeling that the game was rushed to make the same date as the movie. It had a lot of potential, but failed to deliver.
