Lady Gaga has given in and cancelled a concert in the Indonesian capital Jakarta, due to security concerns after protests by religious groups.
The pop star has been facing opposition in Indonesia for some time. She was previously denied a permit and criticized for being too "vulgar." The hardline Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) had threatened to try to stop Lady Gaga getting off the plane.
Gaga is said to be "devastated" by the cancellation. Indonesian fans purchased over 50,000 tickets to Gaga's June 3rd concert.
"With threats if the concert goes ahead, Lady Gaga's side is calling off the concert," Minola Sebayang, a lawyer for concert promoter Big Daddy, told the Associated Press. "This is not only about Lady Gaga's security, but extends to those who will be watching her."
The decision came after Gaga refused to tone down her show for certain countries.
