VIBE.COM TO LAUNCH "VIBE VERSES" WORLD'S
LARGEST ONLINE RAP BATTLE COMPETITION
NEW YORK,November 18, 2008 – VIBE.com will today launch the latest installment of VIBE Verses (www.vibeverses.com) the world’s largest online rap battle competition giving emerging artists a new, global platform to showcase their skills.
The 10-week contest challenges aspiring rap artists to upload videos of themselves performing original lyrics over pre-selected music tracks. Community members will rate each video by voting for their favorite MC. A guest panel of judges will then rate the two finalists and make the selection for VIBE Verses Champion. The winner will receive $5,000 in music/recording equipment from M-Audio, a page in the magazine, and other assorted prizes.
"We’re excited to debut the third season of VIBE Verses and help some great new artists get in front of VIBE.com's 2 million monthly unique visitors," says Ross Robbins, Director of Digital Media, VIBE Media Group.
This season, VIBE Verses will feature a variety of new interactive features, including a members-based polling system with new hip hop-related poll questions updated each week, as well an opportunity for members to submit their own ideas for poll questions. The site will also feature a new bio page for producers complete with a photo and listing of submitted tracks. Participants can also compete in a twice-daily, one-on-one battle for a chance to win a free iTunes download.
Since the first season of VIBE Verses debuted in May 2007, more than 2,500 videos have been uploaded, generating more than 7 millionpage views.
