After being slapped with a $5 million lawsuit, a judge has granted Chris Rock the right to drop his Good Hair documentary today.

Regina Kimbell filed a lawsuit against Rock on Monday, accusing the comedian of copyright infringement and unfair competition.

Kimbell alleges she showed Rock her 2005 documentary My Nappy Roots: A Journey Through Black Hairitage while on the set of Everybody Hates Chris, in 2007. Her documentary features black celebrities talking about popular black hairstyles from over the years like Jheri curls and dreadlocks. The film won the best documentary prize at the 2007 Hollywood Black Film Festival. Kimbell sought "no less than $5 million" in damages and legal fees from Rock.

A judge, though, wasn't buying it. Rock was cleared of all allegations and given the green light to release the highly anticipated film. -Linda Hobbs
