Fannypack makes freestyle-flavored electro-rap. But this Brooklyn group still builds on the B-girl-pop model of Salt-N-Pepa, spiking Miami bass–style techno with two shots of attitude to create a style of music they call “kinder-booty.” It’s reminiscent of a time when bumpin’ L’Trimm’s candy-coated “Cars With the Boom” was the definition of fresh. Over boom-car beats, trading verses decrying devious boys and “camel-toes” (a girl’s overly exposed crotch imprint through tightly fitting pants), the ladies display a gynocentric license to ill.
