With Goodie Mob’s future cloudy, Big Gipp is breaking out on his own.
With Goodie Mob’s future cloudy, Big Gipp is breaking out on his own. Like Cee-Lo before him, Gipp uses his solo project to explore the depths of his colorful personality. He rides tough over the percussive “Choppin Through the Night,” flosses a funky guitar and TGIF chorus on “Steppin’ Out,” and even reworks the classic break “Action Speaks Louder than Words” on “History Mystery.” Mutant Mindframe’s thematic and sonic diversity may be distractingly uneven at times, but Gipp’s individuality is still a welcome dose of soul food in this vending machine era.
