Lionel Richie’s Just for You finds the former Commodore returning to the ’80s, drawing inspiration from the decade that made him a pop icon.

Lionel Richie’s Just for You finds the former Commodore returning to the ’80s, drawing inspiration from the decade that made him a pop icon. Standouts include the lushly orchestrated ballad “Just to Be With You Again,” and the Caribbean funk-fueled “She’s Amazing” is nicely reminiscent of 1983’s “All Night Long (All Night).” Richie’s only misstep is resurrecting the cheesy, clichéd lyrics to we-are-the-world social anthems like “The World Is a Party” and “Dance for the World.” Although Richie’s music is well built, only true die-hard fans will be dancing on the ceiling.
