DMC - Checks, Thugs And Rock 'N Roll (RomenMpire)

With Checks, the rap pioneer focuses his attention inward (“Just Like Me”) and outward—addressing worldly affairs ranging from his alcoholism to adoption and the war in Iraq (“Machine Gun”). The message, however, gets lost in the medium. In spite of its heavy rock/rap sensibilities, Checks never hits the mark in either world. Guests like Sarah McLachlan, Kid Rock, and former trailblazing partner Run further scatter the set. While you certainly hear the passion, you don’t feel the power.
