The raptivist tentatively expands his revolutionary-but-gangsta profile, offering “Love You Can’t Borrow,” an exploration of mind sex, featuring Q-Tip and Cassandra Wilson. The disc’s best cuts, however, are searing pro-black anthems like “Comrade’s Call,” with Styles P and Bazaar Royale, and the Wu-Tang-inspired “5 Elements,” where M-1 raps, “50 in the clip / Can’t let my fitness slip / The first element is power / Ten on the fist.” Even with unspectacular beats from jazz guitarist Fabrizio Sotti, Agallah, and others, M-1 continues his quest to revive the revolution.
