Van Hunt - On The Jungle Floor (Capitol)

Email this article Print this article Send us a tip

Doses of rock surface on songs like “Ride, Ride, Ride” and “At the End of a Slow Dance,” while the hard-hitting funk of “Hot Stage Lites” and the solemn blues of “Priest or Police” demonstrate Hunt’s ability to balance influences of Sly Stone and Prince. Together, the songs here are a beautiful mess of ideas that could each stand on its own, but take on new meaning when bridged by Hunt’s selective sensibility.
