Who Am I?–nominally a soundtrack to a documentary about the now-veteran MC Cormega-is an ironic title coming from an artist with such a strong sense of self: Mega has been a reliably efficient street surveyor for years. There’s no wheel reinvention here lyrically, but he is increasingly approaching an elite class of girded formalists. On “Use Mad Clips,” Mega practically walks on the watery guitars of Emile’s track, while the fiery Lil’ Fame collaboration “718” is pure punch. Throughout, his attention to rhythm and flow is remarkable, a fitting tribute to the Queens giants who paved the way.
