Too Short, "Get Off the Stage" (Music)
17th album after perfecting his slow flow mack raps for over two decades.
Consistent to a fault, Too Short has spent more than two decades perfecting his slow flow mack raps. But with his 17th album, Short is beginning to show his age. There are some classic Todd Shawisms— “That’s the sound of me wiping my ass with her face” from “Shittin’ On ’Em,” is delightfully nauseating. But he mostly proves maladaptive to the hyphy-lite productions of Traxamillion and The Pack’s Young L. And at just 10 tracks slim, including recycled cameos and compilation appearances, Get Off...feels less like an album and more a contractual concession.
