Today Multi-Platinum rapper DMX announced that he will soon release his sixth solo album, but the twist is that he has found a new home with Sony/ Columbia Records. Despite his recent legal run-ins, X is not letting the lock down slow up his momentum. His forthcoming project, Here We Go Again, is tentatively slated for an early Summer ’06 release. “2006 is a new beginning for me,” revealed DMX, “starting fresh with a new label and a new sound. I don’t make music to make songs, I make music to record my life. Sony Music was the first company to ever pay me. Feels good to have my career come full circle by being back home, where I started.” Sony Studios in NYC was flooded with a sea of Ruff Ryders, led by none other than X, Joaquin “Waah” Dean and Swizz Beats. X signing to Sony/Columbia reunites him with longtime friend Chad “Dr. Ceuss” Elliot, Vice President, A&R, Sony Urban Music, who produced his first commercial song “Born Loser” on Ruffhouse/Columbia Records in 1992. The Sony/Columbia family welcomed X with open arms, including Chairman of Columbia Records, Steve Barnett, President of Sony Urban Music, Lisa Ellis and Chad Elliot, VP of Sony Urban Music. “We have worked with so many artists, and we have already made history, including five Billboard #1’s and we’re hoping to continue that,” said Lisa Ellis, President, Sony Urban Music. “Continuing history into the future. Welcome DMX, we look forward to a ruff ryde.” Read more Vibe.com news headlines
