Ciara: New Music, New Body, No Bow Wow

Ciara is spiraling through the galaxy. Whoosh! There's a black sky and endless stars all around, and her eyes are watering from the wind. "Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God," she says, excited but completely controlled. Whoosh! Even on Disneyland's most famous thrill ride, Space Mountain, Ciara doesn't let loose. Maybe she doesn't scare easily. Or maybe the 21-year-old pop princess has known adrenaline rushes greater than this -- like selling 3 million albums, or winning a Grammy, or dancing her ass off for crowds screaming, night after night, "We love you, CiCi!" "CiCi" has a superhuman amount of energy, and even on a roller coaster, she's prettier than you expect. Plus, she appears to be really in charge. For example, she assures management that she can cut the night's soundcheck short. This so she can spend as much time as possible choosing a ridiculous amount of Mickey Mouse memorabilia, including a stuffed Mickey so huge, her solidly curvaceous five-foot-seven-and-a-quarter frame (see photos) has a hard time carrying it (her bodyguard, Anton, helps her out). Ciara speaks -- when she speaks about herself -- in evasive generalities: She's always been popular, always been hated on, never had many female friends. Ask why, and she pauses, giggles, then says she can't go deeper. Pressed for specifics about her breakup with teen heartthrob Bow Wow, here she is:"Noooooo!" Encouraged that everyone's been through relationship drama, and that fans will relate: "Oh Lordy! No (laughing)! It's a trick question because... I'm so scared! I get a funny feeling." Then she gets stern, the future queen peeks from behind the princess facade. "What happens at home..." she says, pausing for a second. "I've never wanted to focus on my personal side. After all the hard work I put in since I was 14, I don't want that to be my story."
