If you believe everything you see, 19-year-old Chris Brown and 20-year-old Robyn Rihanna Fenty are the hottest couple to ever slide across a stage together. For the past two years, the idea of their “secret love”, and more recently an engagement, has flooded gossip pages, blogs, and message boards. And on 2007’s “Umbrella” remix, Chris sang, “You can be my Cinderella.” But the megastar couple has never confirmed their love.
Over the past year, the R&B Super Friends have been caught by the paparazzi leaving a tattoo parlor together in New York (they have matching star tatts on their necks), smooching at a Kanye West show in NYC, shopping in Los Angeles, and frolicking in the ocean in Rihanna’s homeland of Barbados. (Hmm...a trip to visit the parents maybe?) There was even a secret getaway to...Kentucky Fried Chicken. Now that’s real love!
“I won’t say that we’re just friends—me and Chris are really best, best friends,” Rihanna explained to MTV News in March. “If he was a boyfriend, I would say that...I want to
make my fans happy, but I make my fans happy with my music, and that’s what they know me for. When it comes to my personal life, I make those decisions for myself.”
“[Rihanna and I] are just friends,” Chris told US Weekly. “We’re great friends. We haven’t taken it to that next level yet.”
Their pal Ne-Yo believes otherwise. “I’ve hung out with them so much that I know that it’s the real deal and they’re in a relation-ship,” the performer said to The Sun in an October Web chat. “They tear hair out of each other and argue. I’ve seen them kiss and make up like other couples do. I’ve seen the ups and downs.”
For this couple, there doesn’t seem to be too many “downs.” After the Billboard-busting success of their most recent albums, Breezy’s reissued Exclusive: The Forever Edition (Jive) and Rih-Rih’s re-released Good Girl Gone Bad: Reloaded (Def Jam). And the two are rumored to be looking for a condo together at Beverly Hills’ glitzy Sierra Towers. So, are they, or aren’t they?
