HOT FIVE AT 5: Featuring Toni Braxton

Email this article Print this article Send us a tip

With new joints from Chamillionaire, Cassie, Lloyd, and Monica

Lloyd - "Like Me"

Lloyd's gentle voices confidently recounts his rough New Orleans past on this revealing cut. The chorus is too soft for such heavy content, but it's still worth a listen.

Monica - "Taxi"

Monica needs a new story. For as long as we an remember, she's played the wronged role, often victim to an unreceptive man. Here, she threatens to leave if he doesn't get his act in order. We say let her go.

Chamillionaire feat. Z-Ro - “Denzel Washington”

Cham isn’t the first to use a Hollywood titan as his muse, but this soulful, fun record with Houston’s underground king blows Hurricane Chris’ “Halle Berry” out of the game.

Cassie - “Up in Here”

Not one of Cassie’s leaks from her forthcoming sophomore set, Electro Love (Bad Boy) have sparked an interest and this one’s no different. This Indian flute-littered track wouldn’t make the cut for bad Bollywood flick.

Toni Braxton - "Pulse"

Toni saves a dying relationship on the lead single from her forthcoming album, Pulse (Atlantic). Today's R&B starlets could learn a thing or two for from Ms. Braxton. The pipes that pleased so many in the ’90s aren't as strong as they used to be but her songs are just as honest.
