Def Jam Sued

Someone’s got a vendetta against Def Jam. The label is being sued for allegedly inflating album sales to boost their rank on Billboard charts. In the $22 million lawsuit, filed Jan. 26, former sales executive, Theressa Rossi, claims Def Jam hired marketing firm Giaco Entertainment to manipulate Soundscan results. She alleges that they offered free CD’s to independent retail stores in exchange for agreeing to repeatedly scan the CD’s to boost sales figures. Looks like Lyor Cohen got out just in time.
