Norah Jones' music might be subtle and demure, but that doesn't mean she's incapable of making a huge splash on the charts. The Grammy-winning artist moved 1.02 million copies of her sophomore set, Feels Like Home, thus scoring the largest opening week since N*SYNC's Celebrity in 2001. Had Norah not blown up the top spot, Kanye West's debut, The College Dropout, would have dominated on the strength of 440,000 units sold. It was a massive week in general for music sales, actually the most lucrative week ever recorded outside of the holiday shopping season of November and December, Billboard reported. In fact, album sales are already up 13% from last year.
