Watch Out For Those Hip Hop Cops
Peter Berg is directing and producing the flick Hip Hop Cops for Radar Pictures. The semi-documentary addresses the special New York Police Department task force whose sole duty is to investigate rappers. Berg, producer of The Great White Hype and The Rundown, picked up the script from Erik Eason, who told Variety.com, “It definitely encompasses the hip hop world, but it gets into the NYPD and City Hall.” Though the NYPD has denied any such task force, rappers say otherwise. MTV.com posted an extensive feature on the issue last year in which rapper Ketih Murray explained, “It's called the Entertainment Task Force. They watch you as far as on the streets, and they watch you as far as monetary operations, taxes, who's paying who what, where you getting money from. They got they scope on rappers right now.”
